You said “i love you” but who was the “you” that you loved?
Was it the stories that i used to tell?
The way i made you feel about your self?
The shared dreams about our ideal tomorrow? Or the way i smiled away your concerns?
Was it the childish behavior of us that made that bond? Or our openness to each other
Was the “you” that you loved all about you? Or was it about the essence of me?
And if you got a glimpse of the latter could you find a way to tell me?

Yes, But people always speak about self love but they don’t even know how to start it.

β I Totally Agree with YOUR!! Good THOUGHTS!!! on “self love” Sonu; it Ends with Ill Informed Parents who Wittingly or UnWittingly Abuse Their Children…then The Child has to Self Destruct and Painstakingly ReBuild ThemSelves Admitting, Acknowledging and Addressing MMHI (Multiple Mental Health Issues) Brought on by a very THOUGHTLESS UPBRINGING!!! from Parents Who KNEW NO BETTER!!! until Becoming GrandParents

Sonu, a very touching poem, wistful. Beautifully written! The first questions are about memories, but it is the last question that gets to the heart of the matter. Did she mean she loved herself or you when she said, “I love you”? The poet would not be asking such a question unless he doubted her sincerity. all the best! Cheryl
